An Ijazah is a certificate that confirms you learned your recitation or memorization correctly, under a qualified teacher, through a documented chain of authorization. It isn’t a beginner course. Students typically arrive here after they can already recite fluently and want that recitation formally verified and certified.
Recitation Ijazah vs Hifz Ijazah
This course offers two tracks. A Recitation Ijazah confirms your ability to recite the Quran correctly with proper Tajweed rules applied throughout, without requiring the entire Quran to be memorized. A Hifz Ijazah goes further, certifying that you’ve memorized the Quran and can recite it accurately from memory. Which track fits depends on where you’re starting from, and your teacher will usually clarify this in your first session.
How Certification Works
You work one-on-one with an Ijazah-certified teacher who takes you through the material section by section, correcting recitation as you go. Once your teacher is confident in your accuracy and command of Tajweed, you’re formally tested. Passing that assessment is what leads to the Ijazah certificate itself, so the timeline depends on your starting level and how quickly you progress through corrections, not a fixed number of weeks.
Because this level of certification depends on precision, sessions tend to be detail-focused: expect to be stopped and corrected often, especially early on, as small habits that were fine for casual recitation get tightened up to certification standard.
